All aboard

by Julie Baggs 15. January 2010 13:38

The children have been very interested in trains this week so we decided to create our own trains using cushions.  Each child sat on a cushion, there was a driver and a ticket man.  The children made the sound effects of the train and its whistle. All the children got on and we shouted “all aboard”!

We took turns in choosing a place to visit and imagined ourselves being there.  The places we visited were the funfair, swimming pool, park and we went shopping for sweets.  The children used their imaginations really well to extend the game.

After we finished we sat and talked about the places we had been to and the children related this and spoke about outings they had been on with their own families.

This was a great activity to develop creativity, knowledge and understanding of the World.
