World Book Day 2019

The Wigwam Nursery in Reading

It’s that time of year again! World Book Day 2019 is nearly upon us and we’re just so excited about some of the wonderful things happening at our nursery in Reading.

In case you’ve not come across World Book Day before, here are some of the reasons we LOVE to celebrate it!

  • World Book Day is a registered charity
  • Their mission is to give every child and young person and book of their own
  • It’s also a massive celebration of reading

At The Wigwam nursery in Reading, we LOVE books! We’re delighted to support World Book Day’s aim of encouraging children to explore the pleasures of books and reading. We have registered to receive book tokens and a World Book Day resource pack.

Our World Book Day Celebrations

World Book Day is well known for encouraging children to dress up as a character from their favourite book. We will of course be joining in the fun and welcome fancy dress on Thursday 7th March 2019. But, that’s not all!

In the lead-up to World Book Day, we have been making our own books and our own library! The pre-school room at our nursery in Reading have been creating the most AMAZING book covers. We’ve used these wonderful drawings to talk about what will happen in the story. Our pre-schoolers have wowed us with their language skills and talking about what will happen next. They are even learning about fiction and non-fiction. We can’t wait to show you our very own library! And, we will be visiting our local library for story time. If that wasn’t enough, there will be a very special trip to our local bookshop to spend our World Book Day tokens.

World Book Day has definitely started early at The Wigwam nursery in Reading!

If any parents or carers would like to join us for special World Book Day story time, we’re holding a special story time from 3pm. Let us know if you’d like to be involved.
