Chicks!

Welcome to our chicks…

We are delighted to have received some very special guests this week at The Wigwam! The children at our nursery in Reading will be enjoying a wonderful 10 day experience watching chick eggs hatch. This incredible programme provided by The Living Egg Company allows the children to experience the excitement of watching the cracks slowly start to show, and then enjoy the wonder of observing a chick emerge.

While of course the chicks are cute and enjoyable to watch, it also gives us endless opportunities for learning. We will be talking about life cycles, shapes, colours, sounds, exploring what other baby animals are called. The fluffiness of the chicks feathers in contrast to the hard shell gives us plenty to start with exploring textures.
