Nursery near Reading town centre

Summer has arrived at our nursery near Reading town centre!

The children have been on holiday at our nursery near Reading town centre…

We’ve had a wonderful week at The Wigwam Nursery in Reading as the children explored their interest in planes. From the garden we were able to spot some plans flying overhead and talk about where they might be going to. Some of the Squirrels said that maybe the plane was going on a holiday…

So, what else was there for us to do other than go on holiday as well! We may be based near Reading town centre, but that did not stop us using our imagination and exploring lots of role play about going on holiday.

Using our maths skills, we counted items that we needed to pack for our holiday. And of course, we needed to pack things for the beach!

Lots of fun was had trying on goggles to go swimming with and we learned about water safety while trying on rubber rings! Our motor skills were put to the test by catching a super-big inflatable beach ball and of course, our holiday wouldn’t have been complete without some sand!!

At The Wigwam Nursery near Reading town centre we aim to enhance the children’s learning through playing with ‘real’ items alongside their imagination. For our holiday, we had real suitcases, goggles and inflatables for example. We extend the children’s learning by finding one topic they are interested in, such as planes, and then see where we end up. In this example planes led us to create our own inside beach!
