Working at The Wigwam

Working with children really is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world and at The Wigwam we are always keen to hear from parents or staff who share our joy and commitment to working in the early years.

We know how important it is to parents to leave their children in the right environment, with staff who will provide a home from home experience. If you rejoice at hearing a child say a new word, eagerly watch as they master using a fork and shriek with delight at their success and can share their joy when their favourite book is selected for story time (even though you’ve read it 39 times this week already…and it’s only Tuesday!!) then please do get in touch by emailing your CV to info@thewigwamnursery.co.uk

If you’re successful in your application, you’ll be working with an amazing team who are all respected, appreciated and rewarded for the great work that they do. High standards are expected from the start and there are plenty of people around to help get you up to speed if it’s your first role in the early years. Not least the children that we get to spend our days with!

Candidates often ask us what a typical day at The Wigwam is like, and it’s one question we really can’t answer! Sure, there’s the comforting routine of meals and sleep, with plenty of outdoor learning and of course your observations, but two days at The Wigwam are never the same!

Be prepared to come into work and be an astronaut for the day, whose space mission takes you to an unknown planet where you get attacked by Pirates and saved by magical creatures. You’ll have to stay on your toes though, as you might quickly find yourself covered in mud pie in our outdoor learning environment and taking on the role of the grateful customer to our top chefs! You’ll be a master of nursery rhymes, and able to give those all important magic cuddles that can fix just about anything.

Being able to find sensory experiences in everyday objects and follow children’s interests means that each day really is unique. Just come prepared with your imagination, an open mind to mess, a keen eye for observation and a fantastic approach to team working and you’ll hardly notice that you’re at work. If you’re able to whip up some playdough, that’s a bonus!

At The Wigwam we work hard to ensure that we have happy children, engaged parents and motivated staff.
As well a big staff event at Christmas and an annual summer event, we get to go on regular team nights out, have lots of training opportunities and there are real opportunities for development.
